There’s a lot happening in this city and sometimes it can be hard to keep up. To help out, we’ve rounded up some of this weekend’s most worldly events in hopes that it will aid in the planning of your weekend. Take a look:
Thursday, June 13 – Sunday, June 16
Puerto Rican Festival (Division & California)
Celebrate the rich culture of Puerto Rico at the annual Puerto Rican festival in Humboldt Park this weekend. Extended an extra day, the festival will include live musical performances, authentic Caribbean cuisine, arts & crafts and carnival rides.
While prior years the festival featured two parades (one in Grant Park and one on Division Street), festival organizers have combined the two into one single parade that will take place on Saturday, June 15.

The International Bustdown, Vol. 4 (Beauty Bar, 1444 W. Chicago Ave.)
Described as “a world music night on the electronic side of things,” this global beat dance party will include music from Latin Grammy nominated producer Mr. Pauer of Venezula and local DJs Sonorama and Soulphonetics.

ChichaLoft!, (American Tango Institute, 325 N. Hoyne Ave.)
Listen and dance along to Latin American beats at this loft dance party sponsored by the Villapalooza collective. An array of DJs including Itzi Nallah, Afroqbano and Mos, and the Dos Santos: Anti-Beat Orchestra will be on hand providing cumbia, soul, funk and salsa tunes.
The event will help raise funds for the annual Villapalooza music festival in Little Village that will take place on Sept. 7.

The 11th Annual African Diaspora Film Festival
ArtMattan Productions and The Facets Cinematheque are presenting The 11th Annual Chicago African Diaspora Film Festival, which will be held at Facets from June 14-20. This event will feature a selection of Black Independent Films from around the world, showcasing U.S. and Chicago premieres. The African Diaspora Film Festival is an eclectic mix of foreign, independent, classic and urban films representing the global Black experience through an extraordinary range of subjects and artistic approaches.

Saturday, June 15
Takin’ It To The Streets: Urban International Festival
This one-day festival organized by the Inner-City Musilim Action Network will present musical performances, workshops and activities that will aim to connect the diverse racial, ethnic and religious communities of the city.
Taking place at Marquette Park, 6734 S. Kedzie Ave., in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood, Takin’ it to the Streets will include performances by both national and international artists like Blackstar, Mexican poet Liza Garza and UK Hip-Hop duo Native Sun.
The festival will kick-off with a Summer Peace rally featuring activists, religious leaders, artists and other organizational allies calling for community-driven and community-centered solutions to the violence in urban areas like Chicago.
