I can’t imagine a more profound way of talking about life and nor a greater testament to the power of one’s imagination, one’s love of words and the love of everything else about it. Read this blog by Roger Ebert and then read the comments – from all over the world.

I turn to Lou Ransom’s column in the Defender first thing each week when the paper comes but this week I started with Earl Ofari Hutchinson’ column and this is what I said when I was done. It was about Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
I said to myself this is good writing, and good thinking and I read it over again. Look at those word, I said to myself. Heck. They are just nailed in and they pull you along. And I said this is what happens when you have people who love and know how to use words when their words make the moment a little more precious and when their words appear in a paper like the Defender which has a role and serves its community.
Read the column and tell me what you think.
