Latin Jazz Festival
Latin Jazz gets all kind of Latin with BMO Harris Bank to present the 7th annual Chicago Latin Jazz Festival. This weekend long adventure includes artists like Greg Duncan, AFRICARIBE and Mama Edie and The Drum Divas. As for the family, children can participate in mask, instrument and carnival art making. Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events’ Chicago Jazz Festival collaborates with Chicago Park District to bring Chicago summer the best of Latino dancing. ALMA
From Columbia College’s 2013 Biggest Mouth artist and 2013 IAMFEST artist comes ALMA, a singer songwriter who’s brought her musical talent all the way from Madison, WI to Chicago in 2011. The artists melodies has created her “debut in the Midwest music scene.” As pop meets acoustic guitar, ALMA has the perfect voice to sway your Friday night at Little Italy’s Coffee Alley. 9 p.m. Free and BYOB. 1150 W. The International Bass Invasion
As if this weekend couldn’t get anymore musically diverse, DJ’s Soulphonetics and RomaSoul has “Chicago’s hottest world bass music” all night. The DJ collective by Christian Vera and Casewell James incorporate sounds of House, Hip-Hop, Jazz and electronic sounds to create a perfect dance vibe. Corruption is Not Funny
This comedy event isn’t on the weekend per-say, but it’s the closest thing we have to beat the Monday blues. We all know corruption isn’t funny, but times like this is a call for laughter and libations. Join the Better Government Association’s, The Best of The Second City Live.
